Community Restorative Justice Research Intern

Schedule: 10 hrs/wk

Duration: June 2018- Aug 2018

Job Description and Duties:

  • Assist in developing infrastructure for Restorative Community Circles
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend weekly meeting with Supervisor
  • Seek to build strong and supportive relationships with RJOY youth and staff
  • Participate in community restorative justice circles
  • Support community outreach

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Familiar with the language of Restorative Justice
  • Experience working with and knowledge of issues related to mass incarceration and school-to-prison pipeline
  • Experience working with youth from diverse backgrounds
  • Takes initiative

Truth-telling, Racial healing, and Reparations Project Intern

Duration: June 2018- September 2018

Job Description and Duties:

  • Assist in developing systems for monitoring, promotion, and support of emerging Networks
  • Develop network maps using the Network Weaving software
  • Connect with individuals and organizations working on Truth-telling, Racial healing, and Reparations
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend weekly meeting with Supervisor
  • Seek to build strong and supportive relationships with RJOY youth and staff
  • Support Truth-telling, Racial healing and Reparations Project Coordinator
  • Attend conferences and speaking engagements on behalf of RJOY
  • Participate in and support community restorative justice circles

  • Works well with others
  • Demonstrates research experience and expertise
  • Familiar with the language of Restorative Justice
  • Experience working with and knowledge of issues related to mass incarceration and school-to-prison pipeline, and truth-telling

LGBTQIAT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Two-spirit) Intern

Job Description and Duties: 

  • Assist in developing systems partnerships and relationships with LGBTQIAT organizations throughout the Bay Area
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend weekly meeting with Supervisor
  • Seek to build strong and supportive relationships with RJOY youth and staff
  • Support curriculum development for Queer Circle
  • Participate in and support community restorative justice circles throughout Oakland

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrates an understanding of gender and sexuality
  • Holds an equity lens and framework
  • Familiar with the language of Restorative Justice
  • Experience working with and knowledge of issues related to gender, sexuality, and mass incarceration
  • Experience working with youth and diverse communities
  • Takes initiative
